I’m happy that Flow is slowly getting ready to sail. In just a short year, I’ve managed to get it into really great shape, and I have to admit I was surprised myself at how amazing it looks. In February 2026, a big boat show will be held in Helsinki, Finland, where my boat will be on display, and I’ll get to raise the mast and sails for the very first time. Exciting!
At the moment, an electrician is working on the boat, and they should be done soon, which means I’ll get to start learning how everything works. The electrical system is the most challenging part of this building phase for me, so I need to learn from scratch how it operates and how to fix it, so I’ll be able to handle any issues while out at sea. The ropes and hardware are my favorites because I’m already familiar with them. I’m really looking forward to seeing the deck hardware in action next summer.
Working with the fiberglass rudder has been fun, and I’ve learned a lot about it with my older brother. Next, it will be installed in its place, along with the wind vane (don’t worry, the rudder post is coming soon 😄).
Here’s a short plan for this year’s activities: In February, the boat will be on display at the Helsinki Boat Show, and I’ll also be talking about my project there. After that, there are a few months left to finish equipping everything before the boat goes into the water in spring and I can start the training season.
Next summer, I’ll complete a 500-nautical-mile qualification sail in Finland, which will definitely be challenging and exciting because there are so many rocks, islands, and ships, making it tricky to sail in a small boat but it’s excellent practice for the future. After the summer, Flow and I will move to Portugal to continue training, and at the end of October, the “practice race” from Portugal to Lanzarote begins, leading up to the long-awaited Atlantic crossing. I’m really excited for all of this 2026 is going to be a magical year.
A big thank you to all the sponsors and supporters for being with me throughout the whole journey. <3
